I’ve been on a bit of a “creativity-expansion” exercise this past week. Normally, because I’m so busy planning for workshops, classes and clubs, I don’t have a lot of time to create cards just for fun. This past week however, I’ve been challenging myself to take some time to stamp for me, and to step out of my stamping comfort zone and try new layouts and new color combinations. I’ve been having a lot of fun with this, and find that I have been liking my cards so much that I am reluctant to give them away! I’ve also been challenging myself to use stamp sets that have been “collecting dust” on my shelf. It’s funny, but even with well over 100 stamp sets to choose from, I find that I tend to gravitate towards a few favorites – the rest then sit unused. So my challenge for today was to use my Flower Filled stamp set and create a card using Bashful Blue, Cameo Coral and Apricot Appeal. I stamped the boots in Bashful Blue, the flower stems in Certainly Celery and the flowers in both Cameo Coral and Apricot Appeal. I attempted to create a “doodled” border around my main image, using my black Stampin’ Write marker. I’m not too sure whether or not I like my doodling, by I do like the effect of the black. Using one of the stamps from the Fresh Fillers set I stamped in Basic Black ink on the Cameo Coral. As an extra touch I added black brads from the Vintage Brads collection to each corner. For the greeting, I stamped the “thanks” from Everyday Flexible Phrases onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, and punched it out using the small oval punch. I used the Direct to Paper technique to ink the edges of the oval with black ink. I punched a 1/16″ hole in the oval and attached it around the knot with some silver cord. All in all, it was a fairly easy card to create. All supplies are Stampin’ Up!. For a detailed supply list, click on the picture and it will re-direct you to my SCS gallery. TFL!
