The title of this post comes from the stamp set I used – a new release in Stampin’ Up!’s Spring/Summer Collection 2008 called a Beautiful Thing …only I’m not so sure I’d classify the card as "beautiful", maybe "busy" would be a more apt term. I’m not quite sure where I was going with this card, but wherever it was, I didn’t quite get there. However, since I spent over an hour playing with it, I decided to post it anyways. This card is kind of an amalgamation of elements from three different cards I saw. I got the Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink and Rose Red combination from THIS CARD by Faith Hofrichter (Stampin’ with Markie’s Mom), the layout idea is another one from Ana Wolfhart (Ink a Stamp), and the idea of clustering the flowers and the way in which the flowers were done came from THIS card, which I saw on Splitcoaststampers. The designer paper comes from Stampin’ Up!’s Bali Breeze collection. On the pretty in pink piece I stamped the inner decorative flower in Rose Red & Pretty in Pink ink, and then the circular stamp in black. The edges were sponged with Rose Red and paper pierced (although you can’t really see it in the picture). I also paper pierced the Old Olive Scallops. For the flowers, I lightly rocked the flower shadow in Pretty in Pink ink and stamped it onto white, then stamped the inner pattern in Rose Red ink. The edges of the flowers were then sponged with Rose Red. To create the flowers and other elements I used the scallop punch, the 1 3/8", 3/4" and 1/2" circle punches. The centers of the flowers are celery rhinestone brads from the Circle Rhinestone brad collection. The ribbon is the wide celery grosgran ribbon.
