Hey there sweet friends!
Today I wanted to share with you a video tutorial for a mixed media prayer card I created for my Prayer Box Project.
The Prayer Box Project is something that I just started recently – it’s a personal project that has been on my heart for awhile now, and the whole purpose of this project is to help me develop a deeper and more consistent prayer life.
Now this project is part of a greater vision that I have felt called to, one that I’m calling My Artsy Faith.
Now if you’ve watched any of my past art journaling tutorials and read the corresponding blog posts, then you’ll know that art has always been more than something that I do just for fun.
In fact, every art journal page and mixed media piece has it’s own story, and has usually evolved out of something that I have been working out in my own life.
Over the last few years, as I have explored life and faith through my art and my writing, I have come to experience first hand the way in which art can help us connect – to ourselves, our faith, God and the world around us – in a deeper and more meaningful way.
It is my hope that as I share my faith-based art, and my process, it inspires you to use your creative gifts to get closer to God and deepen your own faith.
Or, if you’re not at a point in your life where you believe in God, or follow God, then I hope that my art encourages you to look for your own answers.
As I mentioned earlier, this project that I’m sharing today is a prayer card, and it’s the first prayer card I created for my Prayer Box Project. The reason I chose to create this card first is because for every prayer that I pray, I want to remind myself that it’s not about me and what I want, but about God, and what He wants.
Because ultimately, I know that what He wants for us is the very best life that we can possibly have. And sometimes, a lot of times, the things that we want – that I want – may not necessarily be what’s ultimately best for me.
So that’s the story behind the art I’m sharing with you today.
Video Tutorial | Mixed Media Prayer Card “Your Will Lord, Not Mine”
I did film a video tutorial for my prayer card which you can watch below. If you don’t see the video, please refresh your screen – YouTube can be kind of funny when it’s first loading.
Free Print, Pray, Trace File
As part of today’s project I also have a free download for you. It’s a PDF file with a traceable that you cut out and layer on top of a 4″ x 6″ prayer card (I re-sized it from my original 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ size, and I talk about why in the video).
You can then transfer it onto your prayer card as I demonstrated in the video using carbon paper or transfer paper.
You could also use the image as a traceable for your Bible journaling.
You would simply place the image under your bible page – where you want it to appear. The Bible pages are thin enough that you can see through them to the image below, and then you can trace it onto your page.
To download your traceable please click on the image below.
I hope you were blessed by today’s project!
