Baroque Motifs

No, I didn’t go AWOL!  I’m sure you’ve probably been wondering where in heaven’s name I ‘ve been, as I haven’t posted since Thursday of last week.  It’s been a couple of things actually.  First of all, with it being the Canada Day long weekend, our days were pretty jam packed full of activities, which left little time to stamp. My biggest thing however has been…dare I say it (with a stamp room filled with almost 200 stamp sets)…..boredom!  *Sigh* Yes, it’s sad to say, but I’m bored with what I have.  At this point, I have very little from the new cattie (although it’s coming….Yessssss!) – just a couple of stamp sets – no new colors, no new papers & no new accessories to play with.  Much of what I own in terms of accessories, are retired – so I didn’t want to use those.

It was Stampin’ Kub and the Splitcoaststampers color challenge that pulled me out of my rut.  I used my new stamp set – Baroque Motifs – and cased Stampin’ Kub’s layout (which you can see HERE) along with today’s SCS color challenge of Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink.  I stamped the swirly thing in the bottom right corner of my card front using old olive.  I then stamped the center flower in pretty in pink, cut it out, and mounted it with dimensionals on top of another stamp of the same image which I had done in Close to Cocoa (it was actually supposed to be in Chocolate Chip, but I didn’t notice I had grabbed the wrong color).  I used another stamp from the set (I don’t even know what to call the image) to create the leaves (also done in Old Olive).  As a finishing touch I used my 2-way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter to add a little bling. The flower was then matted onto chocolate chip cardstock which had also been stamped with the swirly stamp in chocolate chip ink. The two brads on the pretty in pink strip are from the Vintage Brads collection.

So there you have it – quick & simple – yet I’m pleased with how it turned out.
