Today I though I’d pop in with a quick Christmas Card featuring a bit of a modern take on a traditional Christmas scene – the three wise men following the star leading them to Bethlehem for the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ. Even though Jesus was a simple Carpenter, normally when I think of this scene I think of it in a very ornate setting – after all the three wise men were three kings who were bringing gifts for Jesus. If you know my style though, then you’ll know that I’m not really an ornate kinda gal – clean and graphic is more my style (although I have been known to stray *wink*). In keeping with my love of clean and graphic I decided to keep this card fairly minimalistic.
I matted one of the patterns from Stampin’ Up!’s Festival of Prints Designer Series Stack onto a Very Vanilla card base and then rounded the top right corner with a 1/2″ corner rounder punch – not something SU carries, but you can easily achieve the same effect by punching a 1/2″ circle, and using that as a guide to hand cut the corner following the lines of the circle. My sentiment is from Stampin’ Up!’s More Merry Messages stamp set and I stamped it in Early Espresso Classic ink onto a 3″ x 4″ piece of Very Vanilla card stock – I rounded the top right corner of that piece as well. I then stamped the main image from the Come to Bethlehem stamp set beneath the sentiment in Early Espresso Classic ink. I finished it off by adding little ribbon tabs using Early Espresso 1/4″ Grosgrain Stittched Ribbon. The stamped Very Vanilla CS piece was affixed to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
