Embrace Life Stampin' Up! Card

I’m finally back after a much needed break!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years – I certainly did!  It was wonderful to be able to spend time with my family and just relax and do nothing.  I’m finally starting to see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel with regards to this preganacy-related fatigue. Although I still don’t feel 100%, I’m starting to slowly start to get back into things.  For the first time in weeks, I finally stamped a card.  As is typical when it’s been awhile since I’ve stamped (I only stamped 2 cards the entire month of Dec.), I had a really hard time coming up with ideas.  I finally turned to my usual "inspiration-booster" and started blog browsing.  I came across THIS CARD by Ana Wolfhart and decided to use her layout as a spring-board for mine.

I based my card around the Embrace Life stamp set from the new Spring/Summer Collection 2008 and the Ginger Blossom DP. The colors I used for this card are River Rock, Basic Black, Rose Red and Vanilla.  To help tie in the black, I used the leaves from the Embrace Life stamp set and stamped them in black all over the larger piece of designer paper.  This I mounted onto basic black CS, added a rose red brad in each corner and mounted it onto the River Rock Card Front.  I also stamped the large flower both in black and Rose Red onto the Guava-colored DP, then mounted it onto the Rose Red CS.  I tied basic black and black gingham ribbon around this layer using a faux knot before mounting it to the card front.  I stained the black gingham ribbon with River Rock ink because it was too white.  I added paper piercing after the "embrace life" for a little added visual interest. The main flower was colored in using Rose Red ink and an aquapainter, then cut out, a rhinestone brad added to the center and mounted on a Stampin’ Dimensional.  The smaller flowers were also colored in using the aquapainter. The layer with the main image was mounted to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
