Every month I try to plan my workshop cards at the beginning of the month. Usually they’ll carry through for a month (I try not to duplicate cards – so if a guest is at 2 workshops in a month then I’ll try to have different cards at each of the workshops she attends). It just happened that I was able to use the same cards I planned in April, in the first part of May as well. That means that these cards that I just designed I’ll be using for the remainder of the month and into the month of June. I’m really excited because I have hired a student to help me with my business a couple of days a month. She came on Saturday, and among other things got 50 of each of these cards all packaged up for me. So now, all I have to do is grab and go! When I’m planning worshop cards I try to keep them simple yet beautiful. I also try to design them so that they introduce 2 basic techniques: one card will use bold image stamps and multiple ink colors (if possible, it will introduce a 2-step stamping set) and the second card will use blender pens and inks for getting that “watercolored” look. Because Stampin’ Up! has so many sets that are retiring, I’m trying to focus on these sets as well.
This first card uses the set Fun Filled. It’s a really cute set and very versatile. I stamped the main image in Staz On and colored it in using blender pens and re-inkers: Cool Caribbean, Certainly Celery and Regal Rose. The Regal Rose strip is stamped with the swirl stamp in this set and Regal Rose Ink. The Cool Caribbean mat is stamped with the spotted stamp (also from this set) in Cool Caribbean ink. The greeting is from Sincere Salutations. As a finishing touch I added black gingham ribbon.
This card uses one of my favourite sets: Petal Prints. I stamped the solid daisy in Lavendar Lace, the outline in Elegant Eggplant (for all but the greeting panel) and the leaves in Certainly Celery. The greeting comes from the stamp set Winged Things. I then punched them out using the 1 1/4″ square punch. The mats were cut from Elegant Eggplant using the 1 3/8″ square punch. They were then mounted onto a Lavendar Lace Panel. I tied white organdy ribbon around the panel and added a couple of silver brads. The card itself is made out of Certainly Celery cardstock. The front was stamped with the 3 leaves stamp in Certainly Celery and then I sponged some more Certainly Celery ink on the cardfront. For a full listing of supplies, please click on each picture.
