I’m on a roll. Every since my last post I’ve been challenging myself to use my "precious" stash of Stampin’ Up! accessories. Today I decided I’d make a card using Stampin’ Up!’s new felt flowers. When I saw these in the Spring/Summer 2008 Collection Catalogue, I just knew I HAD to have them! Truth be told though, although I love them just as much now that I actually have them, but I found it a challenge to use them. Because their colors are very specific – Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, and I believe Pink Passion (although they do seem to kind of go with Rose Red) – I had to break out my color comfort zone. The color combination I used on this card is not one I normally gravitate to, especially this time of year (winter/ longing for spring). The card base is Old Olive and is your standard size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") although for some reason it seems more elongated. I matted a piece of Certainly Celery CS onto the card front. First though, I stamped it with the blossoms from the Embrace Life stamp set in VersaMark ink. I then sponged the edges with Old Olive and added paper piercing all around the perimeter. The designer paper comes from the Bali Breeze collection. I matted it (and the main image) with Pumpkin Pie cs. The image itself comes from Fun and Fast Notes. I colored it in using a blender pen and watercolor wonder crayons. Finishing touches included the white tafetta ribbon, two of the felt flowers, rhinestone brads and silver brads. All supplies are Stampin’ Up! The layout design comes from Fat Cat Stamper.
