You’ve probably heard me mention the fact that I tend to find masculine cards quite challenging. The men in my life are about as “manly” as you can get – no “frou-frou” embellishments, minimal layers, manly colors – LOL! So I’ve been challenging myself to create more masculine cards. Today’s card is a perfect example. In this card I let the image and sentiment – which come from the SAB set Feeling Sentimental – stand alone. I simply stamped them in black onto Vanilla card stock. The only accent color came from a simple striped border which I cut from Stampin’ Up!’s Tea for Two DSP – I love the fact that it looks like Washi tape. A few black rhinestones were the perfect finishing touch. Quick tip: since Stampin’ Up! doesn’t carry black rhinestones you can create your own by coloring the basic rhinestones with a black Sharpie marker.
I’m going to set this card aside and save it for my Father-In-Law’s birthday which is coming up in February. In fact, I think since I’m notoriously bad at sending cards (especially awful given that I’m a paper crafter isn’t it?) I’m going to mail it out in the next couple weeks and ask my Mother-in-law to hide it until his birthday. Then I know for sure we’ll be on time. I need you guys to be my accountability partners. If by the end of next week you haven’t yet heard me mention in a post that I mailed this card, I need you to leave me a comment as a reminder okay? 😉
You know talking about being awful about sending cards, I thought I was the only one – but of the two girls that work here in the studio with me – one didn’t send out Christmas cards this year (well actually I didn’t either *blush*) and the other one sent out store-bought Christmas cards. How about you? Are you as bad as we are, or do you faithfully make and send out cards to your friends and family? I’d love to hear from you – please leave your comment in the comments section of this post.
