Let me dispell a common myth that simple = boring.  My answer:  NOT!   Have you ever asked yourself what you think it is that makes a card simple? I think that for most people part of the problem is that we seem to think that a simple card means minimal layering, minimal dimension and minimal accessories.  To my way of thinking, "simple" is about level of difficulty and about time.  I love the look of intricate cards with lots of layers, lots of embellishments, and lots of techniques as much as the next person.  But let’s be honest, how many of us have an hour to spend on a card?  How many of our customers have an hour to spend on a card?  I find that personally, I get the most gratification out of showing someone who doesn’t have a lot of time, or who doesn’t have a lot of know-how, that it is easy to stamp a simple, yet beautiful card.

Both of the cards I have displayed (both the one above and the one below) were 15 minute cards (once I had all my supplies assembled and not including clean up – *side note:  Why is it that it seems to take longer to clean up after than to actually stamp?*). Do they look to the "untrained eye" like 15 minute cards?  Probably not.  Why? Because there is some layering, some dimension and some accessories – all "extras" that don’t really take a lot of extra time to add to your card.  Was there a lot of stamping?  No!  Was the stamping difficult? Really the most time consuming part in both of them was the cutting.

Next Saturday I’ll  do a before and after for you.  I’ll take a stereo-typical simply = boring card and show you how to make it a simply stunning card (…with no cutting!)
